Florian Wilken is a post-doc working in the field of soil erosion and associated carbon dynamics. Florian did his PhD in the TERENO Erosion Observation System (TEROS).
Within the TEROS project Florian measured and modeled erosion induced redistribution of soil organic carbon in a kettle hole catchment of northeast Germany.
He did his MSc in Physical Geography at the University of Cologne and was awarded a scholarship of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) at the Indo-German Centre for Sustainability of the IIT Madras to carry out his master thesis. His MSc thesis deals with land use and land management dynamics in a catchment of tropical South India.

His research interests include:

  1. process oriented measuring and modelling of sediment redistribution by water and tillage erosion
  2. related geobiochemical processes on arable land
  3. Remote sensing and GIS-based analysis of land use und land management dynamics.

Member of scientific societies:

  1. European Geosciences Union (EGU)
  2. South Asia Study Group within the German Society for Geography (DGfG)
  3. IndiAlumni Network of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD)
