Our main fields of research are
  • development and application of coupled hydrological-atmospheric model systems (WRF-Hydro)
  • development of Copula-based methods for the local refinement and bias correction of climate and climate-change information

  • development and application of model systems for the combined field-distributed modeling of water-, substance- and energy budget in complex terrain (GEOtop) the interlinked regional water and energy fluxes in complex terrain and hydrological process analysis with stable water isotopes.

Regions
Our prime interest are climate sensitive regions, particularly flood- and drought prone regions. Our current activities focus on
  • Middle Europe, especially the Alpine Space
  • the Eastern Mediterranean and Near East
  • West Africa
